WIPO full form is World Intellectual Property Organization. WIPO is a international organization it was established in 1967. WIPO administer two international treaties on intellectual property law. WIPO has 184 member states and 7 additional associate members. The current Director General of WIPO is Francis Gurry. This year will be the 50th anniversary of the establishment of WIPO’s predecessor, the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The World Intellectual Property Organization is the global agency for intellectual property issues. WIPO operates as an international organization that promotes innovation and creativity, facilitates access to knowledge, and protects intellectual property. It is responsible for protecting copyright, trademarks, patents, industrial designs, trade names, geographical indications of spirit drinks and other types of intellectual property through the implementation of conventions.

They do this by providing publications, training, and services. One of their most notable contributions has been the development of the “Paris Convention”, which established international standards for copyright protection.
